a low key Valentines Day, but by far our most favorite!

Scott and I decided to keep Valentines Day low key this year. I cooked a special meal right here at home, Scott came home with lovely flowers, purple, my favorite, we exchanged cards, and a little smoochin', shared a glass of wine, and Cooper "made" his Daddy a Valentine. You will see it pictured below. It says "I love my Daddy". I printed Cooper's footprints for the "V" and his hand in the "O". Surrounding the words are pictures of Coop and us. Scott said it was the very best Valentine he'd ever received.
Scott also said that my cookin' that night was the very best meal I had ever cooked. I have gotten (back) into cooking good meals every night, because it means a great deal to me for Scott to be able to walk in the door to a waiting hot meal, and for the three of us to sit at the dinner table WITHOUT TV on and talk about our day and enjoy each other without distraction. Valentines night I decided to try his favorite, and cooked "CORRECTLY" as he said. I certainly don't mean to do any tooting of my own horn but wow... seriously folks, I was in SHOCK because this food was truly the most amazing food I have ever cooked in the past. Please ask me for the recipe if interested, your family will thank you. It was like a fine dining quality meal. I cooked London Broil, Scott's fav, "correctly" by broiling it. I marinated the meat for 8 hours, brought it to room temperature, applied a homemade rub, panned seared it using an unusual technique following the recipe, and then broiled it the way London Broil is meant to be served, rare. I served it with a homemade herbed butter sauce for dipping, homemade roasted herbed redskin potatoes and steamed broccoli. Despite my best efforts to make it a romantic meal complete with our Valentines Day momentos as the centerpiece, wine, and candlelight, we actually sat in silent shock over what was in our mouths. We both ate like kings, focused, transfixed. This. Was. So. Amazing.
